AJHQ just did something crazy. They actually updated the game.
I had thought that AJHQ wouldn't add any new items besides reskins, any new animals besides new trails, and any new dens that weren't season-ified (such as the spring den, summer den, fall den, and winter den).
But no. Animal Jam has added a new den and new items that I thought I'd discuss and post about.
Edit: So the den is a variation of the Schoolhouse Party, which I thought had just been released but apparently no, the den is new but the Schoolhouse Party isn't, which means it's kind of another reskin. Yay?

My opinions:
It was cute. It was a bit too small in my opinion and I wish the wallpapers were a bit more interactive. That said, I did like the concrete outside and the multiple staircases positioned around the den. The slide was nice too. However, it's definitely a very specific den type with not many den decorating options you could do with it besides just covering up everything with plants.

I gathered 7 diamonds so I could purchase the den and decorated it with some school items that I bought. It's cute but I doubt it'll ever be put to good use besides occasional roleplaying.

My opinions:
I think it's fine. Most of the items could be great for den decorating, such as the "schoolroom sink" being used for a kitchen or bathroom and the "teacher's desk" being used for a bedroom or office. However, some of the items released are a bit unnecessary, such as the school clock and the multi-colored pencil fence. I doubt anybody would ever use one of those items in their den. And I'm honestly a little offended at the "periodic table" poster spelling out Play Wild. I mean, come on. They can't even resist advertising their preferred game when they finally release an update after 5 years. Come on.

Overall opinions: Decent, but not very open to den decorating and not many creative wall patterns.
Average rating: 6.5/10 (rounded)
Even if the den and party aren't super popular, the people are very fun to roleplay with.
This roleplay was actually really fun. Half of it was silly unnecessary phrases like "The fire alarm doesn't dismiss you, I do." Plus, the entire classroom started eating insects. I almost died laughing. 10/10 would roleplay with this group of people again.
Other Releases
Since everything else is just recycled material, I won't put any complex reviews on screen, but I will provide my brief opinions on them.
Gold & Gears Bundle
Not a recycled bundle, but just reskinned items. Personally, I don't like the color combination of this bundle. Unless you specifically use items from this bundle, I doubt anybody would conjure up a decent look with these items.
Cele-BEE-rate Bees
This is actually kind of exciting despite the pun being horrible. Bees were always my favorite pet to get as a nonmember (besides pet seals but I've never gotten one of those) for the simple fact that they are the only nonmember flying pet, but I had never known how to get one besides trading. You can create a pet bee if you go to one of the bee posts, click on it, and click on the small pet bee icon in one of the bottom corners.
Cheetahs Are Here
I never used cheetahs considering they're soo hard to make looks with, but everybody else seems pretty excited about the fact that cheetahs are back. The diamond shop is absolutely packed with people like these: (for context, the people were discussing other large cats that AJHQ could add into the game, such as jaguars).
Toucans Are Here
Nobody cares that the toucans are back. I don't either.
Tiki Trouble
This is actually one of my favorite seasonal adventures, but unless you're an arctic wolf that can access the passage, it's pretty much impossible. And why is the coin so hard to get? But the plants that the arctic wolf passage drops are so pretty, specifically the mangrove tree. I might farm it just so I can get some more.
This was a huge post. Despite most people's iffy opinions on the new den, I think it's okay. I doubt I will use the den often but it's still a sign that AJHQ is still working on the game. It's not easy to create an item that goes on every animal in every walking direction in every frame on every emote, which explains why there's so many reskinned and recolored versions of items that they've been releasing. But that doesn't exclude AJHQ from clearly not putting that much effort into the game, so much so that it's the first large update that the game has had in 5 years. Still, the fact that they added this update shows that they at least care about Animal Jam Classic, even if it's just a little bit.
But what did you think about the new updates? Like them, hate them? I could really use some feedback since I'm not getting any comments. /nf
